Your body is meant to feel good.
Not just pain free, but strong, capable, and at home in itself. Chiropractic medicine, clinical Pilates, and hands-on manual therapy, working together to treat the root cause and build resilience that carries you forward.
Care built around one body, yours.
At Powerhouse, we look beyond symptoms to understand your body and treat the root cause of discomfort rather than chasing it. Precise chiropractic work restores alignment and nervous system function. Clinical Pilates rebuilds the strength to hold it in place.
Understanding the “what” and the “why” behind injury is important because it empowers you to know how to take care of your own body, long after a session ends.
Every session is tailored to your history, your goals, and your lifestyle, because the best care is the kind that actually fits your life.
Pain relief is just the first step. Improving movement patterns builds resiliency to move through injury and beyond, not just in the studio, but in life.
Two disciplines, one continuous plan. Chiropractic and movement that reinforce each other.

Dr. Laura Schaffer, D.C.
Dr. Laura Schaffer is a Los Angeles native, chiropractor, and the owner of Powerhouse Chiropractic & Pilates. She created this practice to bring together two disciplines she has spent her career mastering, and to offer her clients something she could not find anywhere else: care that is both precise and deeply personal.
With sports medicine training, nearly a decade of Pilates instruction, Webster prenatal technique certification, and 25 years of dance experience, Dr. Schaffer brings an unusually layered understanding of how bodies move, compensate, and heal. She specializes in diagnosing injuries, addressing their root causes, and equipping clients with individualized plans and self-care tools they can carry forward on their own.
Her approach is thorough and unhurried. Every client receives a full-body evaluation at the start of care so that nothing is missed and nothing is assumed. From there, treatment is built around your goals, your history, and the way your body actually responds.

Good to know before you book.
The questions we hear most from new clients across West Hollywood and the Fairfax District.
What makes clinical Pilates different from a regular reformer class?
A group reformer class is a workout built for a room. Clinical Pilates is built for your body. Sessions are private or semi-private, guided by a chiropractor who has evaluated how you actually move, and programmed to correct imbalances, improve mobility and support rehabilitation. You work on reformer, tower and chair, at the pace your body is ready for.
Can I do chiropractic and Pilates in the same practice?
That is exactly why Powerhouse exists. Chiropractic care restores alignment and nervous system function, and clinical Pilates rebuilds the strength to hold it in place. Having both under one roof means one practitioner sees the whole picture, so your adjustments and your movement work are part of a single plan instead of two disconnected ones.
What is the Webster technique?
The Webster technique is a gentle, pregnancy-specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment focused on pelvic alignment and on reducing tension in the surrounding ligaments and muscles. Dr. Schaffer is Webster certified and uses it as part of prenatal care throughout pregnancy.
Do you work with pregnancy and postpartum recovery?
Yes. Care is offered through every stage of pregnancy and recovery, including Webster technique, prenatal Pilates, postpartum recovery and core rehabilitation, adapted as your body changes.
Do you treat athletes and sports injuries?
Yes. Dr. Schaffer has sports medicine training and works with athletic recovery, rehabilitation and corrective movement, including myofascial release, cupping, scraping, trigger point work and joint mobilization, alongside exercises that improve how you move.
What happens at my first visit?
Every client receives a full-body evaluation at the start of care so nothing is missed and nothing is assumed. From there, treatment is built around your goals, your history and the way your body actually responds. Please complete your intake forms before you arrive, and give yourself 5 to 10 extra minutes for parking.
Where do I park, and how do I find the studio?
There is metered parking on Beverly Blvd plus street parking on Alta Vista and Poinsettia (2 hours before 6pm). Find 216 POWERHOUSE on the call box, then head up the stairs and to the left. If you need an elevator, call us when you arrive and we will meet you at the side entrance on Alta Vista.
